Monday 18th May at 7.00pm Next Generation Now has been running in Scarborough for some years with the aim of educating the public about sustainability. They are a registered charity and their aims are broadly similar to those of Sustainable Scarborough but is now lacking in energy. Chair of their Trustees, Andy Sharp has proposed that Sustainable Scarborough take over the charitable framework of Next Generation Now. We have checked with the Charity Commissioners and this is quite feasible. We are able to notify them of a change of name, change of trustees and to make slight modifications to the constitution to come into line with the Transition Network requirements without problem. The advantage to us is that charitable status gives us a far better standing when it comes to funding applications and also some ´respectability´ with other organisations.
If you would like to help take this forward, or are simply interested, come along to the Next Generation Now AGM at Green Planet, 4a Hanover Road, Scarborough.
